It's been a while...but on to bees pitching.
Well well well, look
who finally showed up. It’s me, I finally returned. Things happened, nothing bad,
so let’s get back to the mediocre baseball analysis. Oh but before I take a
crack at the Bees pitching, the Bluejays just had a hell of a 6th
inning in the first game of the world series. They went off. Anyways, back to
the Bees.
Well,
what did the Bees pitching staff get up to in the 2025 season? They were hurling
balls trying to strike folks out…duh. But in that effort they ended with the
second highest ERA in the Pacific Coast Leage with a 6.29. Trailing only the Reno
Aces. They were 6th in both saves and save opportunities, which is
nice I guess. The pitching staff ended the year with the most hits allowed this
time beating Reno by 3 with 1516 hits allowed. Thankfully though Reno takes the
most runs allowed with 1016 vs the Bees 959. They had the 3rd
highest WHIP and the highest batting average against them of the league. So it
seems like they are allowing a healthy amount of contact. This contact was thankfully
not exacerbated by base on balls, they are ranked 7th in base on
balls for the year. Now that we have the team stats out of the way let’s start
calling out some individuals.
The
first person to call out is Dakota Hudson, that man pitched 136 innings for the
Bees this year. A full 20 above the number two spot Shaun Anderson. Even with
that many innings Mr. Hudson maintained a 1.794 WHIP and a 5.9 strikes outs per
nine. Which is a hell of a lot better than I could do. Though even with that
many innings Mr. Hudson is ranked 5th in games played for the Bees.
Of pitchers with 10 or more games played Mr. Hudson he is ranked 10th
in WHIP out of 24 other pitchers. Now who else should I call out…hohum, what
about the folks with the most strikes out per nine. Well, those would be Jose
Fermine and Angel Felipe. Both with an above 13 strikes out per nine. That is a
shit load of strike outs per game. Though their WHIPS are wicked difference
with Fermin sitting at 1.35 and Felipe sitting at 2.544. Neither are in the top
ten for total strikes out though…which may or may not mean something. I’m not
sure if it does, which is why I started writing about the team so I can figure
out what I don’t know and then learn it. So maybe next times I will have
figured out if that stat is important…maybe.
Welp,
it is a bit late for me now and the Haze Threebus beer from Desert Edge Brewing
is hitting me now. So I’m bailing to listen to the rest of game one of the
world series. Between now and the next time I write something try to do
something kind for a stranger and something kind for yourself.
